Summary

The dynamic team behind Llama Destroys the World returns with a laugh-out-loud tale about the dangers。。。of feeding pigeons!

When you see a coo, you will be tempted to give it a treat。
Coos are adorable, peaceful, kind of silly。
But DON'T FEED THE COO!
If you feed one, they will ALL come。。。

So begins Don't Feed the Coos, a cautionary tale that details the fallout when a little girl decides to share some bread with a coo (aka pigeon)。 From the park to home to the arcade to karate practice, the coos follow the generous-but-foolish girl who didn't heed the warning。 Because when you give a coo a crumb。。。the entire population of coos will come! But fret not: our spunky little heroine will discover that even the biggest of problems can be solved with a little determination。

In the grand tradition of If You Give a Mouse a CookieDon't Feed the Coos reminds us that the most disastrous of reactions can come from the most innocent of actions。 Jonathan Stutzman and Heather Fox deliver another ridiculous and hilarious story, sure to delight fans of The Bad Seed and I Want My Hat Back

When is starts off it kind of put me in the mind of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and then it went rogue with a lot of pooping。 When is starts off it kind of put me in the mind of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and then it went rogue with a lot of pooping。 。。。more

Derivative of Numeroff’s “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” Willems’ “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus,” and Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” but amusing enough with its bathroom humor, the coos’ karmic retributions, and the clever ministrations of the overwrought protagonist to merit the laughter of child and adult alike。

I think the If you give a [xxx] a [xxx] books are sometimes overdone, but this version is a breath of silliness which overcomes the trope。

So cute!!!

Kids will find this book funny。 Anyone who has had a pigeon land on their head or had the good luck to be pooped on will chuckle。 I was sort of hoping that the cautionary tale would include the importance of feeding park birds actual bird food and not bread - please do not give birds bread! But it was purely entertaining。

We enjoyed this silly book!

I let Nancy rate this book。 She gave it five stars and said “I love this silly book。 I like the very silly part。” Now she is just opening it to certain pages and laughing maniacally。 Books about coos and poos will do that to you。 Anyway, we will definitely be checking out Llama Destroys the World next!

This review was published on Lost in a Good BookI was excited to pick up another Stutzman book and it did not disappoint。 I loved the concept that once you feed a coo you are stuck with them for all time and once you feed one, others will come。 The ingenuity and determination of these coos is delightful and Stutzman’s writing style elevates simple words and phrases and highlights the humour。Fox’s illustrations are a pure delight and I thoroughly enjoyed every page。 The scenarios she has included This review was published on Lost in a Good BookI was excited to pick up another Stutzman book and it did not disappoint。 I loved the concept that once you feed a coo you are stuck with them for all time and once you feed one, others will come。 The ingenuity and determination of these coos is delightful and Stutzman’s writing style elevates simple words and phrases and highlights the humour。Fox’s illustrations are a pure delight and I thoroughly enjoyed every page。 The scenarios she has included are very funny and incredibly cute and they add so much to the story。 I got a lot of enjoyment from studying them and laughing at the coo’s expressions and antics, not to mention the fear then angst, then resignation on the little girl’s face as she accepts them into her family。Stutzman’s story is quirky and fun and it would a great story to read aloud。 It is a fabulous story that works in sync with the illustrations as they play off one another。 With few words but stunning, detailed pictures there is a great balance that creates a well-rounded story with multiple levels of enjoyment。 。。。more

Fun silliness about the consequences of feeding pigeons and, after giving in to being family with the pigeons, how to redirect their attention to someone else。。。

Silly book about getting mobbed by pigeons once you feed them and the trick the kiddo played to get rid of them。

Adorable, silly, and so darn true! Feed the birds once and you will have friends and bird poo for life。 In the vein of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, we see the domino effect of one kind act and how the vignettes play out and come full circle。 The illustrations are both lovable and delightful, the poo humor is just enough and the nod to The Lord of the Rings hidden in the names of the “coos” made me air high-five the author。 Super cute book for birders and little birders to be。 - Sara S。

A book warning of the danger of feeding the Coos, who will follow you home and never leave you alone。 Super cute illustrations and humorous text make this a fun story, and one you can read to a group, or to one child。 The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the ending, which is dependant upon children being able to see several illustrations and understand how the main character has purchased bird seed for an older man at the park, and how he is now feeding the coos。 There is an implication A book warning of the danger of feeding the Coos, who will follow you home and never leave you alone。 Super cute illustrations and humorous text make this a fun story, and one you can read to a group, or to one child。 The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the ending, which is dependant upon children being able to see several illustrations and understand how the main character has purchased bird seed for an older man at the park, and how he is now feeding the coos。 There is an implication that this is how she rids herself of the coos, and they will now follow him around。 But if kids can't see that image, or don't understand what is going on they won't understand the end of the book。 。。。more
